Position Summary

Candidate will join a progressive clinical practice at Rush University Medical Center (RUMC) in downtown Chicago. The Clinical Specialist in Hematology/Oncology at RUMC will support the inpatient hematology, medical oncology, gynecologic oncology and stem cell transplant therapy services. The pharmacist attends and participates in inpatient rounding with a multidisciplinary team, attends and participates in interdisciplinary weekly service meeting while also precepting pharmacy students and residents. Additional teaching responsibilities include providing innovative, classroom education to pharmacy students and other health care professional students in an interprofessionally-based curriculum. Candidates will also be expected to participate in research/scholarly activities and service to the College and profession.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Providing classroom instruction to Doctor of Pharmacy Students and interprofessional audiences
• Precept introductory pharmacy practice experiences and advanced pharmacy practice experiences at clinical practice site
• Provide patient-centered care as a clinical pharmacist
• Participate as an active member of committees, as assigned, at the College of Pharmacy
• Develop scholarship and research in area of practice and/or in the scholarship of teaching and learning

All full-time faculty members employed by RFUMS are expected to engage in activities that are considered core to their primary role as a faculty member. These activities may include teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

Required Education & Experience

• Successful candidates should have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and be licensed or eligible for state licensure
• Candidates should have successfully completed post-graduate residency programs in pharmacy practice (PGY-1) and hematology/oncology (PGY-2; or have equivalent experience).

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Demonstrate clinical expertise in hematology/oncology pharmacotherapy
• Clearly communicate with students, patients and healthcare providers in written and verbal formats
• Know how to use Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word in order to prepare presentations and documents
• Have a basic understanding of research methodology and protocol development
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong consideration will be given to candidates who are Board Certified.
• Teaching experience should be consistent with assistant or associate professor rank.
• Candidates with research experience, a strong interest in interprofessional education, and a commitment to scholarly activity are also highly desirable.
