    Sodexo Government Services has an exciting opportunity for an Area General Manager to be a part of the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA). DeCA is a commissary providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America's military and their families, and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country. 

     

    The Area General Manager will support 6 stores in the Georgia area with responsibility overseeing and managing the deli and bakeries with responsibility

     

    The Sodexo Area General Manager will have responsibilities for overseeing and managing the Deli and Bakery departments while ensuring a friendly selling approach to customers by all Sodexo associates.  The Area General Manager is also responsible for ordering, receiving, preparation, and displaying of merchandise in accordance with DeCA policy. 

     

    The Area General Manager will be responsible for daily operations and oversight of the deli and bakery departments at the Georgia area commissaries to include:

     

    • Traveling to assigned stores working with the General Manager and Sodexo hourly employees to merchandising plans for departments to meet sales, gross and labor targets
    • Observes and evaluates overall department presentation, cleanliness and compliance to company policy and procedures; works with General Manager on continuous improvement
    • Develops and maintains training programs that will ensure the availability of qualified associates to fill respective departments positions within Sodexo
    • Participates and conducts sales meetings
    • Oversees departmental sales, labor and gross profit reporting from six assigned deli/bakery departments in the Georgia market
    • Implements new merchandising programs and strategies and makes sure department staff is properly trained

     

    The ideal candidate:

     

    • Previous experience in merchandising of assigned product area as department manager or specialist in a grocery store or commissary
    • Possess good written and verbal communication skills and deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the phone
    • Possess a marketing orientation, good analytical and problem solving abilities
    • Possess math skills to complete analysis
    • Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate others without directly supervising.

    Position Summary

    Functions as the in-unit leader for multiple accounts and/or contracts within a defined geography. Single point of contact and/or client liaison in support of a multi-site.
    Key Duties
    - Monitors operations by planned and unplanned visits to each operating account of the system to plan projects, implement new processes, client interactions, and new technology to ensure sufficient resources.

    -  Develops business plan and budget w/each account GM that supports the System and District goals – Reviews and analyzes financial statements and data and other financial information to ensure attainment of financial goals for both the client and Sodexo.

    -  Central Point of Contact for Client Liaison promoting a solid business partnership - assists in contract negotiations for the system.

    - Maintains Quality & Company Standards – reviews and maintains reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Sodexo / System Client(s) policies and procedures.

    - Responsible for system succession planning/employee development/diversity initiatives/training/constructive counseling. Promotes and supports workplace diversity initiatives.

    - Provides strategic leadership to the respective units within the system to maintain client satisfaction and retention
     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree
    Basic Management Experience - 5 years
    Basic Functional Experience - 5 years
