JOB SUMMARY
Athens Administrators has an immediate need for a full-time Accounting Specialist II to support our Concord office located on Stanwell Drive, however, we are willing to consider candidates who would work remotely from other locations in California. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday at 37.5 hours a week. The Accounting Specialist II will perform accounting functions of moderate complexity, including routine and non-routine accounting tasks.  The Accounting Specialist II will also monitor, secure funding for, and reconcile client imprest accounts. A majority of this position will include client account reconciliation and related tasks. They will also assist with other duties as required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

Perform the following for Athens Administrators:
- Enter vendor vouchers for payment
- Prepare checks for all accounts payable accounts and secure signatures from authorized signers
- Answer all vendor inquiries
- File and review banking expense reports to ensure compliance with the Companys expense reimbursement policy
- Resolve any accounts payable related errors and discrepancies
- Maintain all accounts payable files and records
- Maintain tax payer identification information for all vendors
- Compile information for preparation of 1099s at year end
- Oversee preparation of daily deposits
- Post cash receipts to appropriate client accounts and invoices, follow up on NSF checks
- Maintain all cash receipts and accounts receivable files and records, including clearing offsetting open invoices

Perform the following cash management functions for client accounts:
- Monitor cash balances of imprest accounts and reconcile client bank accounts
- Request funds from clients to replenish imprest accounts as needed
- Provide check registers, claims reports and financial reconciliation ledgers to various clients
- Research stale dated checks and escheat stale dated checks to State Controllers Office if required
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School diploma. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Minimum 2 + years of relevant experience in A/P, A/R and bank reconciliation
- Bookkeeping experience preferred
- One year work experience in corporate environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to research and resolve problems
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (fax, phone, printer, scanner, etc.)
- Ability to work in a paperless environment
- Ability to type quickly, accurately and for prolonged periods
- Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work product
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
- Infrequent lifting of up to 20lbs may be required
- Computer literate and experience navigating various computer systems, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook and database management.
- Seeks to include innovative strategies and methods in order to provide a high level of commitment to service & results
- Ability to learn additional computer programs
- Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work product.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), ability to follow directions, work under difficult time restraints, prioritize work, and exercise teamwork attitude.
- Must be able to perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and possess the manual dexterity to perform the requirements of the job.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills in order to work well with customer base.
- Reasoning ability, including problem solving and analytical skills.
- Establish priorities and meet deadlines on claim set-ups and payments.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Must be able to perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and possess the manual dexterity to perform the requirements of the job.
