General Overview

At Rotary the Account Executive is a member of the account management team and reports to the Marketing Manager in the Communications and Marketing department. This individual focuses on public-facing, brand-building activities that 1) grow public awareness and understanding of Rotary and 2) help lay the foundation for member engagement and recruitment. This position also drives marketing efforts aligned with strategic priorities and identified corporate initiatives. 


Managing the external facing planning, placement and promotion of Rotarys People of Action campaign is a primary responsibility. This position is also responsible for coordinating public-facing events, promotions and activations associated with signature Rotary activities (World Polio Day, Convention, Rotary Day at UN, Action Days, etc.).  Working under the guidance of the Marketing Manager, this position coordinates closely with the other AEs on the team, the Corporate Communications team and appropriate business units.  He or she will develop strategic marketing plans, drive tactics and develop collateral to support initiatives. 


You Will Have

  • Minimum bachelors degree required - Advertising, Marketing, Communications focus preferred

  • 4-6 years of experience working in Account Management or Planning at an advertising or marketing agency, or within a client side marketing environment (global marketing a plus)

  • Marketing and communication planning experience, including integrated marketing management and media strategy, planning and placement

  • Market research and analysis experience, with skill using qualitative and quantitative insights to inform strategy and solve business issues

  • Experience working with internal and external partners and agencies, managing content, creative, campaign development and execution

  • Excellent organizational and project management skillscomfortable with multi-tasking

  • Ability to balance strategic and tactical priorities

  • Strong communication, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Cross-functional leadership skills, with proven ability to motivate and inspire others

  • Solid project management skills, leading projects from development through execution

  • High comfort level working on complex and sometimes ambiguous tasks

  • Flexibility and strength as a team player


You Will Be Responsible For

Marketing Planning and Campaign Development

  • Spearheads the development and execution of marketing and communications plans to raise public awareness and understanding of Rotary at a global level

  • Plans and manages marketing activities at public facing events, ensuring consistent messaging and integration of brand campaign across communication platforms

  • Develops project and creative briefs in collaboration with cross-department counterparts (e.g. membership, fundraising, design, global communications)

  • Manages external agencies and freelancers


Media and Communication

  • Creates and executes plans to leverage marketing platforms to expand reach, including digital, social, print and broadcast

  • Ensures consistent messaging across communication channels

  • Works across the global organization to increase communication efficiency and consistency

  • Helps inform Rotarian-focused communication, education programs and training materials as needed


Market Research and Insights

  • Leads plans for test markets, manages execution and measures results for campaign optimization

  • Sets KPIs for campaign success, tracks metrics and applies insights to improve marketing effectiveness
