The Academic Support Assistant (ASA), for the School of Applied Technology in Wellsville, NY, assists the academic departments with coordinating, organizing, compiling, and preparing data and written reports related to accreditation, curriculum review and development, assessment, grants, and other areas. The ASA will also represent the academic department and when working with individuals across the college and with external visitors and groups towards maintain alignment to programmatic and course student learning outcomes. The ASA's duties will require, at times, a high degree of autonomy, and the ASA will report to the dean.

Typical duties may include the following:

  • Administer procedures that maintain academic student success on the departmental academic levels including student and programmatic learning outcomes as well as individual departmental accreditation guidelines.
  • Allocate and assign resources that maintain connection as a student liaison to the financial aid office to assist student billing issues.
  • Coach and guide students struggling on a programmatic level through coordinating supports distributed to the academic departments pertaining to student accessibility services.
  • Monitor and manage student ambassadors who work supporting for campus visits, student shadow experiences open house, and recruitment visits by high schools, BOCES, and prospective students and families as well as work study assignments.
  • Manage and coordinate orientation events. Represent SAT campus on the Alfred State orientation committee. Assist faculty in developing plans to visit to secondary career fairs and schools.
  • Interpret and analyze statistical data on student enrollment, student withdrawals, and dismissals and forecast trends to the dean and department chairs.
  • Usher and maintain articulation agreements with high schools and secondary technology schools (BOCES) to maintain alignment to academic curriculum and programs.
  • Maintain oversight to academic updates/changes to the student tool lists. Coordination with the department chairs and the financial aid office and assist in campus allocation and discernment of tool loan use.
  • Coordinate efforts between the PR office and the academic departments to update and maintain curricular fact sheets, departmental brochures, course catalog and other academic supports to enhance enrollment
  • Monitor faculty and professional appointments with respect to operative dates for contract renewal and continuing appointment
