    The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is a component of the University of Texas System located in Galveston, Texas, United States, about 50 miles (80 km) southeast of Downtown Houston. It is an academic health center with 11,000 employees and a medical school that is the oldest in Texas.UTMB's primary missions are health sciences education, medical research (it is home to the Galveston National Laboratory) and health care services. Its Emergency Room at John Sealy Hospital is certified as a Level I Trauma Center and serves as the lead trauma facility for a nine-county region in Southeast Texas; it is one of only three Level I Trauma centers serving all ages in Southeast Texas.

    It houses several Biosafety Level 4 research laboratories, where studies on highly infectious materials can be carried out safely. It has schools of medicine, school of biomedical sciences, as well as an institute for medical humanities.

    Therefore, we are seeking solution-oriented candidates who excel at customer service with a proven success as a Senior Desktop Support Specialist. Sodexo’s  Desktop Support Specialists professionals have:

     

     

    • IT expereince in a Health care setting with applications such as: PACS, OBIX, CITRIX, COMPU MEDICS preferred
    • Strong customer service skills;ability to provide world class service to healthcare customers
    • Superior time management skill
    • Associates degree in Computer Science desired
    • Proactive thinking skills to troubleshoot and provide optimal service.

    Position Summary

    Provides accurate and timely solutions to end user computer and networking problems to ensure end-user productivity. Performs restorative and maintenance actions to resolve problems. Coordinates configuration/installation and general troubleshooting of PC hardware and software. Provides end user training and documentation. Provides remote PC support and troubleshooting. Provides status reports and problem summaries and project status as required. Assists in the evaluation of business problems, recommending vendor packages, and implementing required software. Assists in the evaluation of new personnel end user computing packages and equipment as well as in the implementation and testing of prototypes. Consults with client area management and staff regarding PC and LAN systems and equipment problems or malfunctions, and recommends solutions. Oversees a small Desktop Support project or phases of a larger project. Responsible for coordinating activities of project, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of project. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Provides technical guidance to project team. May manage the integration of vendor tasks; may track and review vendor deliverables. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems.

    Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
    Basic Functional Experience - 2 years
