Sodexo Leisure is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and driven Operations Manager 3 to join our dynamic team at the Seattle Aquarium in Seattle, WA. The Operations Manager 3 will focus on the catering operations for our private events at the Seattle Aquarium. The Operations Manager will support the General Manager in all aspects of the business to include Catering and Retail Operations as well as financial support for the unit. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction and oversight of catering staff and is responsible for the timely preparation, set-up and tear down of all functions while maintaining standards of food, beverage and event specifications
  • Ensure proper set-up and closing of all events to specified details provided on the Banquet Event Order
  • Work closely with kitchen to coordinate timely food delivery and replenishment for each function
  • Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees
  • Create effective and financially responsible work schedules for staff
  • Manage staff schedule, secure scheduling ordinance and payroll in Kronos on a weekly and timely manner
  • Responsible for the oversight of event related activities of subordinates and assign responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by Banquet Event Order
  • Responsible for hiring, orientation and training of employees
  • Responsible for Sodexo monthly safety training and weekly safety observations of banquet operations and staff
  • Performs day-to-day assignments in addition to oversight duties. These include accurate and timely rental orders, temp labor orders, bar ordering and equipment pars to include repairs and maintenance.
  • Works with customers to ensure satisfaction in such areas as quality, service and problem resolution
  • Unit Financial System (UFS) duties include entering event related expenses for payment according to Sodexo standards, allocation reporting on 3rd party events and creation of accurate Function Sheets for daily/weekly transmission
  • Perform monthly inventory on catering equipment and bar supplies including beer, wine, liquor pars
  • Order beer, wine, liquor in a financially responsible manner
  • Recommend maintenance requests and purchasing opportunities
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.
Key Duties
- Establishes a safe work environment

- Assumes General Manager’s (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence

- Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships,  to ensure account retention

- Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

- Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

- Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

- Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and  regulatory agencies



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree 

Basic Management Experience - 3 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
