Sodexo Universities has an exciting opportunity for a talented Catering Manager at the University of Jamestown in located JamestownND. The University of Jamestown is a private liberal arts College enrolling nearly 1100 students with 750+ on meal plans. The account's estimated annual volume is to be $1.8 million. Of that, $150,000 is in catering sales and $160,000 in Retail sales. The President of the University has a very strong passion for food and catering expectations are high, with attention to detail and innovation. This position requires the ability to create casual, elegant and sophisticated catering experiences.  *RELOCATION ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE!*


Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal candidate will possess the following:


  • Previous catering management experience, preferably within campus dining setting or other contract management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly with clients, staff, and team members
  • Ability to multi task and delegate to coordinate multiple events as well as utilize a systems based approach to meet each event's timeline, specifications, and quality of product.
  • Ability to manage and staff in a tough labor market. Must be able to build and mentor a solid catering team that s your level of commitment and passion for exceptional catering.
  • Active engagement/partnership within the campus community as well as being involved in campus activities


The ideal candidate would reside in Jamestown or within a 50 mile radius. North Dakota was recently ranked #1 for states with the most freedom and has a very low state income tax. Jamestown is known for its small town atmosphere offering a family friendly community. The town is 90 miles from Bismarck, ND, the capital and Fargo ND, the largest city in North Dakota. Position Summary

Oversight of catering activities for a small to mid-size location/unit with $500k-$1M in managed catering volume. Medium complexity with a high degree of hands on involvement in catering events. Strong client interaction.
Key Duties
- Oversight of Sodexo resources, recipes, systems and use of catering programs to direct daily catering events including; food production, inventory, product deliveries, invoices, and procurement operations.
- Oversight of the sales process for catering and/or conference service events. Works with client and customers to design events.
- Ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their job, and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines as assigned.
- Establishes and maintains a safe work environment including both food and physical safety in order to comply with all regulatory and Sodexo standards in various environments. Drives the Zero Harm mindset.
- Complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary
- Supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED

Basic Management Experience - 1 year
